Toyota is committed to vehicle safety. That’s why we established the Global Outstanding Assessment (GOA) passive safety assessment programme. First we find the toughest safety standards in the world, then we exceed them.
ABS (Anti-skid Braking System) brakes (ZR)
While the Celica certainly gives you the power to go, it also gives you the power to stop. All models come standard with 4 wheel disc brakes, and the ZR offers the additional stopping power of Anti-Skid Braking System (ABS) with Electronic Brake-Force Distribution (EBD). ABS prevents your wheels from locking up, so you’re less likely to skid under heavy braking. Wheel lock-up is a major cause of accidents because steering control is lost once the front wheels begin to skid. EBD dynamically redistributes braking force based on vehicle load.
Dual SRS airbags standard
Drive with passion and still enjoy the utmost peace of mind. Celica comes standard with driver and front passenger SRS (Supplemental Restraint System) airbags, delivering advanced protection in the unfortunate event of an accident. Celica ZR even comes with front seat side airbags!
Safe-T-Cell & Side door anti-intrusion beams
Celica takes no chances with occupant safety. It offers the unique protection of Toyota’s revolutionary Safe-T-Cell cabin which is designed, tested, and manufactured according to the stringent guidelines of the Global Outstanding Assessment (GOA) safety programme. The Safe-T-Cell cabin absorbs impact rather than transferring it to you and your passengers and is complemented by advanced side door anti-intrusion beams which provide protection from side impact.
Pre-tensioning, force-limiting seatbelts
Working in conjunction with the SRS airbags, Celica’s advanced seatbelt design provides a secure embrace and optimum safety. Both driver and front passenger seatbelts are pre-tensioning (automatically retracting in frontal collisions) and force-limiting (automatically reducing tension after a collision when they reach a predetermined load, reducing the risk of chest injury).
