TOYOTA LETS RUKUS OUT OF THE BOX
4 Jun 2010
Toyota Australia's secret is now out of the box!
The latest addition to the company's model range - the "in your face" Rukus is now officially on sale!
With its brazenly boxy shape, Rukus is designed as a head-turning alternative to small sports-utility vehicles and sports wagons.
It is aimed squarely at urban trend-setters and young couples and families - including many people who have never previously considered a Toyota.
As well as a compact rectangular exterior, Rukus features a roomy cabin, strong performance and a high level of standard features.
The new car comes in three equipment grades known as Build 1, Build 2 and Build 3.
Every Rukus features the performance of a larger than expected engine - a 123kW 2.4-litre four that consumes just 8.8 litres/100km**.
Standard safety features include six airbags, stability and traction control and anti-skid disc brakes.
Other features in every Rukus include air-conditioning, 16-inch alloy wheels, cruise control, keyless entry and ignition, and power mirrors and windows.
Build 2 brings leather-accented seats, steering wheel and gearshift knob as well as climate-control air-conditioning and an upgraded sound system with nine speakers, including a vented sub-woofer.
Build 3 gains a power tilt-and-slide moonroof.
Toyota anticipates sales of 150-200 a month.

Rukus is covered by Toyota Service Advantage, providing fixed-price services at $130 each for the first six scheduled services.*** ** Fuel consumption data is based on ADR 81/02 combined cycle. Fuel consumption will vary depending on driving conditions/style, vehicle conditions and options/accessories. *** For details of Toyota Service Advantage, go to www.advantage.toyota.com.au
